The Enterprise Resource Planning User Interface (ERP UI) will provide a richly-featured and user-oriented ERP UI for administrative applications at UT and an ERP Application Program Interface (API) for development and deployment of administrative applications.

The goals of this project include the following:

  1. Identify the set of common page types and provide infrastructure to facilitate their development.
  2. Create a unified visual appearance.
  3. Identify and standardize common page elements.
  4. Create a dashboard (or "landing page").
  5. Provide universal ERP navigation.
  6. Standardize a set of look-ups, tools, and widgets.
  7. Standardize behaviors and functionality (through the use of common CSS files, JQuery, and "officially endorsed" third-party JS plug-ins).
  8. Establish an ERP Process committee and identify the processes this group should use to address changes to the ERP.

The project has completed the design of the ERP UI and the development of the specific work breakdown plan to guide the development is almost complete. In addition, the style guide framework is almost complete. With this good foundation in place, the project team is working to hit a production target for the ERP UI framework and associated development tools in April, 2011. Once the framework has been delivered, developers across the UT Austin campus can begin transitioning existing interfaces into the ERP framework or developing new ones.

More information about timelines and how you can participate will be forthcoming in the weeks and months ahead.
