How you can help

There are many programs and processes already in place that you can use to help save the University money. The list below provides a brief overview of these items as well as links to relevant Web sites. Please review the information below to see where you can start saving costs now.

Sign-up for Paperless Earnings Statements
You can eliminate the costs associated with generating and distributing earnings statements immediately by signing up for an electronic earning statement. Notification that your pay stub is available is sent to you every month. You can either print it out or store it online in your paycheck profile on UT Direct. Please refer to Paycheck Profile section of the Payroll Web site at http://www.utexas.edu/payroll/ for further information.

Sign-up for Direct Deposit
Want to get your check immediately and avoid the hassle of bank-teller or ATM lines? With Direct Deposit, your paycheck is electronically deposited in your bank account, eliminating any mail or processing delays. Please refer to the Paycheck Profile section of the Payroll Web site at http://www.utexas.edu/payroll/ for further information.

Access Your W2 Statements Online
W2 statements are available online, allowing you to view and print your 2001 and 2002 W2s. Whether you need your W2s to complete your taxes or just want an extra copy for your records, W2s can be accessed and printed at any time. W-2 information for prior years will be made available in the near future. Please refer to the W2 section of the Payroll Web site at http://www.utexas.edu/payroll/ for further information.

Office Supplies Gateway
The University spends over $5M a year on office supplies. This money is spent with literally dozens of vendors, limiting the University's ability to leverage its collective buying power and achieve volume discounts. In order to address this issue, UT has entered into an agreement with Office Depot, ensuring that all UT Austin purchases are discounted, so any departments that take advantage of this program should see a decrease in their office supply costs. In addition, those discounts increase as our purchase volume increases, proving the old adage "the more, the merrier". The Office Depot Web-based procurement tool has been implemented and is currently being used to order all office supplies. http://www.utexas.edu/services/supply/

Submit Your Ideas
You can have an impact on the future of the University. One of the ways is through your thoughts, suggestions and ideas concerning opportunities that might improve efficiency. Please go to the suggestion box where you can submit any ideas directly to the Task Force.
