The Design & Construction Standards presented herein are intended to assist architects, engineers, other design professionals, contractors and UT staff in understanding the preferences of The University of Texas at Austin in the development, maintenance and repair of its facilities. These standards are intended to be used as guidelines and NOT SPECIFICATIONS, therefore, the legal responsibility for project document preparation shall continue to reside with the Design Professional. Refer to the Introduction for additional requirements. Updates to the standards will be posted on an approximately annual basis.

Please Note: These Design and Construction Standards are for use by The University of Texas at Austin, its consultants and contractors and remain the property of The University of Texas at Austin at all times.

The Facility Services Subgroup & Appendices is the new section that entails Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Suppression, Electrical, Integrated Automation and Electronic Safety and Security Divisions following the CSI Format. These were originally called Mechanical Standards and Electrical Standards. The Architectural & Civil Standards, Elevator & Escalator Standards, and Telecommunication Standards are still in the old format and will be revised at a later date to be determined.
