TCC FREE Lecture: Russian Conspiracy Talk

April 23, 2014
6:30 pm–8:30 pm

This lecture is an introduction into the topic of conspiracy talk in contemporary Russian culture.

Whether in fiction, film or more broadly in the sphere of political rhetoric, conspiracy talk has become increasingly visible in Russia since the turn of the 21st century. This lecture will examine a number of different examples of conspiracy talk taken from contemporary sources and attempt to explain the reasons for the spike in paranoid discourse over the past decade or so.
