K-16 Overview

Whether you are looking for just one subject or an array of high school subjects, the K-16 Education Center can help. Our Web-Based High School courses offer the following:

  • Flexibility to work at your pace, at your place. Students can take up to 150 days (9 months if enrolled prior to July 18th, 2011) to complete a course and are not required to go to a specific location for any aspect of the course;
  • Easy-to-use technology;
  • Multimedia activities that make subjects come alive;
  • Self-help and self-assessment tools that help students work to improve their skills; and
  • More than just technology. The courses are written and instructed by Texas-certified teachers who are experienced with helping students succeed.

Special notes to students focused on graduating in Texas:

  • All courses are Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) aligned and based on state-adopted textbooks;
  • Because our courses are TEKS aligned, students are well prepared for success on the TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) test, which is required for graduation in the State of Texas;
  • The credit earned in our courses may be applied toward high school graduation from Texas high schools in accordance with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) graduation plan recommendations; and
  • Courses are added throughout the year, so please come back to check for new course openings.

Many High School Courses Are Changing from Web-Based to Online Courses

Our new online-learning platform was unveiled in the summer of 2004, and we will continue to open updated versions of our courses to take advantage of our advanced online and interactive technologies. For this reason, please visit our website regularly for updated course listings, exam, and assignment information. Since courses will be opening throughout the year, check back often for updates.
