Proctoring Exams at UT

a. Identification
You must present an acceptable form of photo ID to take the test. We will accept the following forms of ID:

  • State issued driver’s license
  • State issued identification card
  • Military ID
  • Passport
  • School ID

If you do not have an acceptable form of ID, please contact our office before coming to test.

b. Fees
There is a non-refundable proctoring fee that is payable in cash or by credit card; checks are not accepted. This fee is applicable to students taking midterm or final exams, CBEs/EAs, and exams from other schools. Payment is made the day of testing at the Testing Center.

c. Supplies
You will only be allowed to take into the testing room what is specifically indicated on the exam. Please leave all personal items at home or in your car. We provide paper and writing utensils.

d. Notification of when the exam can be taken
When a UT K-16 Education Center exam is processed and ready, a postcard is sent to the student through U.S. Mail. The notification postcard will indicate any additional materials that may be used during your exam and if an appointment is necessary. If the exam requires the use of a listening or recording device (for foreign language exams), you must call the Testing Center for an appointment.

To verify that an exam from another institution has arrived at the Testing Center, please call our office at (512) 232-5000.

Exams will be held at the Testing Center for 30 days unless the issuing school/organization requests an earlier expiration date. From the date we receive the test, we secure the test for 30 calendar days and then return it to the issuing school/organization as an exam returned untaken.

Testing hours are found by visiting Testing Times.
