What is UT NOVA™?

A membership organization providing lifelong learning through UT Austin Continuing Education Division’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

How is UT NOVA™ managed?

Members elect an Executive Committee each year to oversee program and financial operations. These volunteer leaders benefit from the expertise and administration provided by staff of the Joe C. Thompson Center (TCC), a unit of the Department of the Continuing Education Executive Director’s office. The TCC also provides meeting space and other resources necessary for member communications, membership and financial record keeping, and implementing decisions by the Executive Committee and key committees. This support is financed by annual fees paid by members.

How is the program structured?

Four and a half hours of programs are offered each Wednesday during three six-week periods in the fall, winter and spring. Ninety-minute seminars are at 9:30am and 11:15am. Members choose from among three offerings in each time slot. Ninety-minute lectures at 1:45 pm are open to all members

Who selects the topics and presenters for Lectures and Seminars?

The Lecture and Seminar Committees are composed of member volunteers. They utilize the experience and contacts of the TCC staff and the four other Osher Lifelong Learning Institute member organizations, as well as results of member surveys and program evaluations. The vast and varied pool of expertise available from retired and current UT Austin professors and community leaders and experts provides an invaluable resource for obtaining talented presenters.

How can I participate in UT NOVA™ committees’ activities?

Check the appropriate box on your Enrollment Form and/or contact the current chair who can give you more information about how the Committee operates and how your skills might fit. In addition to Executive, Lecture and Seminar, other committees are Social and Membership.

Where is the program held?

At the Joe C. Thompson Conference Center on the UT Austin campus, Red River at Dean Keeton.

How about parking?

The TCC has its own parking lot, a short walk to entrances of the Center. A parking permit is included in your membership fee. When the lot is full, which may happen on occasion, discounted parking is available at nearby UT parking garages.

How can I join UT NOVA™?

Follow the enrollment application link. You also may contact the UT NOVA™ Administrator at the TCC, Kathy Sangster, at 471-3124.
