Metabolic Conditions and the Roles of Medical Interpreters: Medical Interpreter Training Seminar (MITS)

Course Details

This course is Module 2 of the Medical Interpreter Training Seminar (MITS). This 10 hour course will substantially improve the ability to interpret effectively on behalf of Spanish-speaking patients. It will cover linguistic and culture aspects of medical interpreting that if not executed correctly could lead to loss of vital information and dire patient consequences. The 40-hour curriculum is divided into four modules to accommodate various learning styles. Upon completing all four modules, participants will qualify to take the National Board for Certification of Medical Interpreters Exam.

Objective

Participants will become familiarized with vocabulary related to medical specialties in Spanish.
