Cindy Brewer, PHR, has served as the assistant director for Business Services in the Facilities Services Department of the University of Texas at Austin since 2009. She directs the delivery of all business services for both the Facilities Services and the Project Management & Construction Services (PMCS) departments and ensures compliance with university, federal and state policies. Her division manages operating budgets for those two departments as well as the Technology Resources department and the office of the senior associate vice president for Campus Planning and Facilities Management. The combined annual operating budget of these organizations exceeds $52 million. The Business Services division also manages $62 million in construction project accounts. Cindy ensures that fiscal and administrative controls are in place. Her financial analysis and feedback supports the departments in planning and implementing quality, cost-effective services.
Cindy came to Texas after almost four years as the assistant director of Financial Affairs in the Information Technology organization at Purdue University, which had an annual operating budget of $65 million. She ensured adherence to fiscal controls and policies while directing a wide range of business services, including payroll for more than 450 regular staff and 360 student staff. Cindy also served Purdue as a lecturer in the College of Technology, where she led students in an in-depth study of team processes in work settings.
A certified Professional in Human Resources from the Human Resource Certification Institute, she was involved in organization and career development as a consultant to Purdue’s Human Resource Services for over five years. She continues to apply staff development and process improvement principles in her current position.
Cindy received a Master of Science degree in Higher Education Business and Finance Management from Purdue after earning her undergraduate degree in Finance from Ball State University.
