Have you been considering the study of Spanish - for your business, travel or just for fun? If so, this class is for you! This course is essential for anyone planning short to medium-term stays in Spanish-speaking countries and is designed specifically for the needs of any traveler.

This intense short course provides a quick yet thorough program for travelers, students, and business people alike who need to master key speaking Spanish skills — fast! Emulating common situations you may experience while in a foreign country, this program stresses the key vocabulary and phrases used in everyday conversations, providing detailed pronunciation exercises to ensure your accuracy. With simple yet effective exercises, you will acquire a solid foundation of phrases and terms that will have you speaking basic Spanish in no time.

Students will gain insight into cultural and linguistic customs, as well as knowledge over the language competencies specific to each environment. Areas such as banking trade, commerce, hotel, restaurant and emergency situations will be presented. Participants will learn proper and polite approaches to handling different situations when doing business or just having fun when visiting locations around the city.

Students are taught primarily in Spanish in order to immerse them in their new language. Students will learn 15 must know verbs and the conjugation of each of them in present, conditional, future, and past tense. While they’re learning, students will participate in different games during class to facilitate their practice of the subjects covered. Your will learn from our experienced native instructor so your learning is better than if you were in a foreign country!

Course Outline

Day 1

8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

  • Greetings
  • Courteous Expressions (Thank you very much, may I help you, one moment please, etc.
  • Interrogative Words (who are you? What? What is your name and last name? etc.
  • Numbers
  • Plurals
  • The difference between The Verb Ser and Estar (To be verb)
  • Directions (Where is the restaurant? Where is the bathroom? To the right, to the left, etc.
  • Conjugation of the most important verbs to survive in Spanish, like: To have, to do, to make, to need to eat, and some of the idiomatic expressions with them.

1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Days of the week

  • Uses of the reflexive verbs.

Day 2

  • Direct and Indirect pronouns
  • Restaurant and food
  • Directions with commands

  • Common vocabulary and expressions
