Covers the basics of acceptable planning, techniques, and equipment for completion and stimulation of newly cased wells; also covers planning, organizing, and supervising remedial and recompletion operations on old wells. A field trip supports classroom discussion. Participants attending both weeks receive handouts and the following PETEX books:
- A Dictionary for the Oil and Gas Industry
- Casing and Cementing
- Testing and Completing
- Hydrogen Sulfide in Production Operations
- All twelve books in the PETEX Well Service and Workover Series
Those enrolled for only one week will receive the PETEX manuals that are appropriate for that week.

1st Week
- Planning the job
- Pipe recovery
- Fishing
- Wireline operations
- Selection of downhole equipment
- Solvent and chemical treating
- Scale and paraffin removal and control
- Well logging
- Completion fluid
- Casing and tubing
- Sand, clay, and water control
2nd Week
- Perforating
- Fracturing
- Primary cementing and squeezing
- Deepening operations and sidetracking
- Liners
- Coil tubing and nitrogen
- Primary testing
- Evaluation of tests
- Accident Prevention
