Curriculum for this training course includes the foundation for understanding programmable logic controller (PLC) operation and programming including relay ladder logic, numbering systems, addressing, PLC functions, hardware, wiring, applications, and troubleshooting. Includes class exercises along with hands-on wiring, programming, and operation of PLCs. Participants receive handouts.

Participants receive instruction in:
- PLC basics–electrical relay circuits logic vs. PLC relay circuit logic
- PLC basics–hardware components
- Discussion of PLC basics–review of logic and hardware
- Programming languages and logic implementation–ladder logic programming, instructions and communications, and associated applications
- Programming languages and logic implementation review
- Application of PLC example
