Natural Gas Measurement–Fundamentals

This course may assist in meeting requirements for DOT Operator Certification.

Covers the basics of physical and chemical makeup of gas mixtures and how they are affected by temperature and pressure. Explains how to obtain, analyze, and determine sound measurement. Also covers the fundamentals of volume determination devices.

Participants receive instruction in:

  • Units of measurement
  • Natural gas chemistry
  • Physical behavior
  • Volume determinations: Orifice meter–general, orifice meter–gas, turbine meter–gas, ultrasonic gas meter, positive displacement meter, Coriolis mass force gas meter
  • Recommended For

  • Gas measurement technicians, analysts, and engineers
  • Personnel who witness or audit natural gas measurement.
