SKILLS ANALYSIS TOOL
A new tool that identifies your training needs

PETEX recognizes that the oil and gas industry needs the right tools to understand the skills their employees need to perform in their roles. To optimize costs associated with training, employee skill gaps must be tightly linked to training offerings needed to do the job right and improve operational efficiencies.

PETEX is developing a unique online Skills Analysis Tool so you can self-assess skill deficiencies and identify the training solutions to build your knowledge in new areas. Available in 2011, our tool is based on the International Association of Drilling Contractors’ KSAs (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) mapping which has proven effective in identifying roles and skill levels. Using this tool, you will receive a customized knowledge map that matches the desired level of KSAs with the industry roles required by your company. This tool is most effective when you validate the selected roles and skill levels with a supervisor or mentor to ensure that actual skills are beings addressed.

The Skills Analysis Tool is directly linked to a full suite of training solutions—instructor-led and e-learning, publications (and e-books), and multimedia training aids from PETEX. When you complete the analysis using this easy tool, your customized results give you a curriculum map for each individual and specific PETEX training solutions to meet your exact needs, along with suggested training offerings from qualified PETEX partners in areas PETEX does not directly address.

The Skills Analysis Tool and its customized curricula will assist in identifying learning solutions to help acquire knowledge for the following industry roles: Basic Roustabout; Basic Floorman; Basic Derrickman; Basic Crane Operator; Basic Motorman; Basic Electrician, Basic Mechanic; Driller and Assistant Driller; Toolpusher; Offshore Installation Manager; and Health, Safety, and Environment Personnel.
