Informal Classes: Texas Two-Step

1/7/2013

Austin boasts some of the finest country dance floors in Texas. In fact, some of our local night spots, like the Broken Spoke and the Continental Club, have become world famous for offering the best in honky tonk music and country dance halls. How could you call yourself a Texan, or even an Austinite, if you’ve never taken a twirl around some of our “hallowed halls?” Not knowing how to dance is no longer an excuse. Registration is now open for Informal Classes in Two-Step Dancing for both beginners and intermediate learners! Feeling comfortable on the dance floor is just an Informal Class away!

Two-Step for Beginners

In this introduction to the Texas Two-Step, instructor Johnny Bryant teaches the basic steps and the proper way to lead, follow and position yourself to make the dance patterns flow naturally. Two-Step for Beginners is designed for first-time and experienced dancers. Come with your dance partner, or come alone. We will be rotating partners, so all students will be able practice leading or following with a variety of partners. Boots are not required (but they sure are fun!). However, well-fitting, hard leather-soled shoes are strongly advised. The cost of a 4-week course is $60.

Beginner sessions are available Sundays from 5-6pm:

Two-Step, Intermediate

Intermediate Two-Step is a follow-up to the Beginners class. Johnny Bryant builds onto the basic patterns of the Texas Two-Step, by focusing on timing, balance, movement and coordination. This course can be taken as many times as you like. Intermediate classes are $60 for 4 sessions.

Intermediate classes are held Sundays from 6:15-7:15pm:
