PDC opens new online professional development courses
2/20/2011CIE is proud to announce a new series of online professional development courses. These courses, available through the Professional Development Center (PDC), offer on-demand, interactive e-learning for either individuals seeking to increase their skill sets or for managers with a desire to offer training to their entire team. The online resources provide the broadest range of learning content including unlimited access to top-selling leadership and management books, engaging, interactive courseware, hands-on simulations and a multitude of other solutions. “I’m very excited to offer these online programs to both individuals and businesses whose goals are to increase their overall performance and efficiency,” says CIE’s Senior Associate Dean Linda Glessner. “The benefits are real. In times of economic and employment uncertainty these online programs provide valuable opportunities to those who may not be able to physically attend professional development classes or seminars. Participants will find great value and receive many helpful takeaways that can be used in an individual career or throughout an entire organization.”
There are currently 75 courses available with more to come. A small sample of available courses includes “Effective Time Management,” “Marketing Principles,” “Finance and Accounting for Non-Financial Professionals,” “Achieving Organizational Excellence through Critical Thinking,” “Interpersonal Communication,” and a series of sales skills courses.
Managers can train more employees for less money when they remove the travel expenses, mileage and lost days of work that come with sending employees to training seminars or workshops. With this new series, managers and staff members can tailor the courses to their own work timetables, identify problem areas and track their individual course progress.
Employees or individual students enrolled in these programs can take advantage of 24/7 access to more courses that can be taken anytime, from anywhere. They benefit from increased skill sets and better chances for promotion. The series also offers students the ability to earn or maintain a professional certification. Currently, training for the following certifications is available through this new program:
- Customer Service Representative (CSR)
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)
- IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
- Certified Professional Educator (CPE)
- Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence
