Disability Information

The University is a large place, so you should be prepared to do some walking to get from your car to your assigned building and room. If you have questions or concerns about accessibility that are not addressed on this page, please call our office at (512) 471-2913 or (512) 471-3121 at least 2 weeks before your institute so we may assist you.

Building Accessibility

Most institutes take place in the Thompson Conference Center. Art classes and Science institutes will likely take place in the ART Building, but please double check the institute Calendar page for this.

Accessibility information is available on the UT accessibility map.

Click the area of campus you would like to review and refer to the symbol legend to find the accessible pathways and entrances to your assigned summer institute building. (You can also search by building name and click “Area accessibility.”)

Persons with disabilities with an appropriately approved state placard or plate may park in the Thompson Conference Center Lot 40 or Service Drive in designated handicap spaces or any University garage space reserved for persons with disabilities. If you are attending a class that takes place in an Art or Science building and want to request to park in one of the surface parking spots on campus reserved for UT D permit holders with disabilities, you must bring your approved state placard to the Parking and Transportation administrative office, located in the Trinity Parking Garage (TRG), at 1815 Trinity Street. The office is located at the back of the lowest level of the parking garage. Phone inquiries should be made to (512) 471-7275.

If approved, you will receive a temporary UT D permit hangtag to display along with your state placard. Parking and Transportation will charge $12 for this permit.
