All AP* Summer Institutes meet Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The institutes break for lunch (provided) as well as for two short breaks each day. Vegetarians should e-mail their request for a vegetarian lunch to apsi@austin.utexas.edu at least two weeks before their institute begins.
Participants who complete an AP Summer Institute at UT Austin will receive 30 training hours from Pre-AP and AP consultants endorsed or approved by the College Board. UT-Austin faculty will be guest lecturers in some institutes.
Class locations on campus will be posted on this web site about two weeks before the institute start date. Most classes will meet at the Thompson Conference Center, with the exception of some Fine Arts and Science institutes. Please check this website often for updated information about your institute.
As you browse the course offerings, please note that institutes designated for new teachers are for those who have never taught Pre-AP or AP or who have less than two years experience teaching the Pre-AP or AP curriculum in the specific subject. Institutes designated for experienced teachers are for those who have two or more years experience teaching Pre-AP or AP in that particular subject. Institutes which are not designated as new or experienced are general workshops open to both new and experienced teachers. It is highly recommended that you register and attend an institute appropriate for your level of experience.
