Teachers in Minority and/or Economically Disadvantaged Schools

The College Board AP Fellows Program awards scholarships to secondary school teachers who will will teach AP courses in schools that serve economically disadvantaged students and/or traditionally underrepresented minority students. College Board AP Fellow recipients will be offered a scholarship of $1000 to attend a College Board-endorsed AP Summer Institute during the summer of 2012. The scholarships assist teachers with the costs (e.g., registration fees and travel expenses) of attending an APSI for professional development. College Board AP Fellows scholarships cannot be used to attend the AP Annual Conference, to participant in one- or two-day workshops, to attend Pre-AP workshops or to purchase classroom materials.

To qualify for a College Board AP Fellows scholarship, a candidate must plan to teach an AP course during the 2012-2013 academic year at a secondary school that meets at least one of the following requirements:

  • Has 50% or more traditionally underrepresented minority students (African American, Hispanic, or Native American) OR
  • Has 50% or more students who qualify for free or reduced price meals.

The application deadline is February 15, 2012. Please note that this year’s application is an online submittal only.
