The purpose of this institute is to give teachers an understanding of the expectations of the AP Macroeconomics course. This course will cover syllabus development and course organization, resources available to assist both the teacher and the student, and methods for improving student performance on the AP Exam. Participants will have opportunities to share best practices and favorite lessons.

Participants should bring the following:

  • Paper, pen, highlighter, and small post-its
  • New teachers should bring the textbook that they will be using in their classes
  • Experienced teachers should bring a favorite lesson to share

Lead Consultant: Mary Wolters

Mary Wolters has taught AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, and Economics at Westlake High School, Austin, Texas, for the last 20 years. Before teaching she worked for a few years as an urban planner/economic consultant in Austin and Denver, Colorado. For the last several years she has been an AP Economics consultant for The College Board’s Southwestern Region as well as an AP Economics Exam Reader. She has a B.A. in economics from Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, and a M.S. in community and regional planning from The University of Texas at Austin.
