This course will focus on preparing teachers to teach a year-long high school class in Pre-AP World Geography. We will thoroughly explore of the geographic patterns and processes that shape human understanding, use, and alteration of Earth using strategy-based instruction techniques, technology integration as well as content presentations. Time will be spent on how to develop the skills and habits of mind that students need to be successful in future AP classes.

  • Highlighter
  • 30 copies of a lesson to share with other participants

Lead Consultant: Adalia Davis
Adalia Davis now teaches AP Human Geography and World Geography at George Ranch High School in Richmond, Texas. She spent the last 14 years in the Katy Independent School District as a Pre-AP World Geography teacher and charter member of the AP Social Studies Vertical Team.

Adalia has consulted for The College Board since 2001. She also mentors new geography teachers and promotes geographic education as a Texas Alliance for Geographic Education Teacher Consultant. In recognition of her commitment to technology integration, Adalia was selected as one of Katy ISD’s Digital Star Teachers in 2011 and is also a certified Microsoft Teacher Leader and a Discovery Educator Network Star Educator. Her particular areas of interest include project based learning, multiple intelligence theory and Geographic Information Systems.
