:: 2013 AP* Summer Institutes at UT Austin

AP Spanish Language for Experienced AP Teachers
Institute Code AP13038
This institute is full and closed for registration.

Participants in the AP Summer Institute will prepare to implement the new AP Spanish Language and Culture Curriculum Framework in the 2013 – 2014 school year. We will study the framework’s main components: (the Learning Objectives, Achievement Level Descriptions, Themes and Recommended Contexts, and Essential Questions) to understand how our current courses do and do not align with the new course and assessment. We will explore and discuss the resources available on AP Central for developing the course syllabus and instructional materials. In addition, we will review published materials designed with the new course in mind. Our goal is to assess what areas our current curricula do address, and how we can adjust existing practices to be more consistent with the new assessment. Teachers should bring with them a unit or activity that has been successful, so we can re-tool it to match the new course, and share with colleagues.

Participants should bring a lap top with them.

All teachers are encouraged to review the upcoming changes and download and read the AP Spanish Language and Culture Curriculum Framework prior to the Institute: http://advancesinap.collegeboard.org/world-languages/spanish
