Industrial Hygiene: Sampling for Respirable Silica Dust and NoiseThis course is ideal for the Mine Safety and Health Professional. With an emerging focus on dust and noise sampling, this course will prepare you with the knowledge and tools necessary to conduct ongoing sampling.
Medic First Aid Instructor Trainer CourseThe First Aid Instructor Training Course is ideal for individuals seeking authorization to be a First Aid/CPR instructor. The course will authorize students to be MEDIC First Aid instructors.
MSHA Part 48 Instructor Training Course (ITC)This is the Part 48 MSHA Certified Instructor Training Course. This course is ideal for your company’s safety director, manager, or operator that would like to conduct your own training in house. The certification is a requirement for those operations that fall under the Title 30 CFR Part 48 for underground and/or coal operations or contractors that work in these operations.
Part 48 Annual Refresher TrainingPart 48 Annual Refresher Training is designed for individuals that are in between jobs and wish to keep their MSHA training up to date, or individual trainers that seek a yearly refresher training for themselves.
Part 48 New Miner TrainingThe public Part 48 New Miner Training is for newly employed inexperienced miners, individual contractors needing to conduct work at a mine site, or for small mines that prefer to send their new hires to the public course rather than conduct a small onsite class.

Texas State Holmes Annual MeetingJoin the Texas State Holmes Council for their annual statewide meeting! The two-day meeting is rotated throughout various cities in Texas and each year promises State Council updates and officer elections, mining safety and health workshops, industry exhibitors, Rising Star Award, and the MSHA District Manager’s Address.

The classes listed below are on-site classes. Please call the toll free number 1-855-TX-MINER (855-896-4637) or contact us at tmshp@austin.utexas.edu to schedule training. Read the full requirements, minimum number of trainees, and so on.
Annual Refresher TrainingThe Annual Refresher training (ART) is normally conducted on site and scheduled when you call in to request it. The training consist of 8-hours of training for those miners that have been trained within the past 12 months.
Compliance Assistance VisitThe Texas Mine Safety and Health Program conducts Compliance Assistance Visits at the request of the mine operator. The primary purpose for the visit is so that the mine operator will be better informed of unsafe conditions/behaviors that could be immediately corrected to prevent potential injuries, fatalities, and citations.
First Aid/CPR TrainingOur Program offers both the 4-hour First Aid/CPR certification course and a First Aid/CPR refresher course. The refresher course is offered as part of the 8-hour Annual Refresher Training, and can be for any amount of time within the 8 hours as long as it is stated on your training plan.
New Miner TrainingNew Miner Training can be conducted for Part 46 and Part 48 operations or contractors in English or Spanish. The training is targeted for your newly employed inexperienced miners and is a 24 hour course (as required by MSHA).
