Superintendent

The Superintendent of the University of Texas-University Charter School (UT-UCS) serves as the central administrative officer for the district and is responsible for providing leadership in all aspects of the operations of the district. Gwyn A. Boyter, Ph.D., assumed the role of Superintendent of UT-UCS on January 8, 2008. She is the second superintendent in the history of UT-UCS.

Advisory Board

Business Office

The Sponsoring Entity and Charter Holder of the University of Texas-University Charter School (UT-UCS) is The University of Texas at Austin. The Board of Regents of the University of Texas System is the Governing Body for UT-UCS. Responsibility for oversight and supervision of the charter school has been delegated from the President to the Provost and then to the Dean of Continuing and Innovative Education (CIE). The Advisory Board advises and makes recommendations to the Dean on certain matters related to UT-UCS.

REQUIRED

The Business Office of the University of Texas-University Charter School will serve as a resource and will provide to the Advisory Board, community and staff meaningful, concise and accurate information in the most efficient manner possible to allow for effective and sound decision making practices used in allocation of the District's fiscal resources. In addition, this office will assure that necessary fiscal, financial and internal controls are in place and operating appropriately to ensure data integrity and to protect the District's assets from misuse and fraud.

Curriculum and Instruction

The mission of the UT-UCS Department of Curriculum and Instruction is to work together to create and maintain a quality-learning environment for all by fostering effective communication among community, teachers, and administrators. The department ensures federal and state compliance in all areas of education by providing leadership for educational research and overseeing the vertical alignment of the K-12 curriculum and instruction. The department evaluates the K-12 instructional programs and services to support each campus in their quest to successfully accomplish the district goal of great student performance.

District Assessment

The UT-UCS District Assessment Department's mission is to provide support so that student's and staff members are highly prepared for every test administration. In addition, high quality training is provided so that all UT-UCS staff members are able to analyze assessment data so that effective academic strategies and plans are implemented for every student.

PEIMS

University of Texas-University Charter School PEIMS Department is committed to submitting current, complete, and accurate data for all record groups required for each collection; validating and editing data according to edit rules in the PEIMS Data Standards; correcting all errors found by the ESC during the data validation process in a timely manner; and delivering "fatal-free" corrected data on or before the due dates set by their ESCs and TEA.

Special Education

The University of Texas-University Charter School Special Education Department believes all students can achieve; therefore, we are committed to identifying and meeting the diverse needs of each student through individualized educational programming. It is our mission to work cooperatively with families, students, community, colleagues, and other professionals in order to promote each student's success and well-being as he/she prepares for future endeavors.

Technology

UT-UCS believes that infusing technology into classroom instruction will create students who are academically competitive, technology literate, motivated and engaged in the learning process. UT-UCS strives to give students, teachers and other school affiliates the opportunity to grow, be progressive, do new and interesting things in a safe, efficient and useful manner.
