English as a Second Language
Our Mission
The mission of the English as a Second Language Program at University of Texas-University Charter School is to assist the development of English Language Learners in the four language domains, to be successful academically, and offer cultural awareness through classroom experience. For more information please contact Kathleen Daniels.
All ESL classes are taught by a certified ESL teacher. The ESL program teacher collaborates with other teachers who may work with the student. If a student is also enrolled in a special education program, the teachers coordinate the instruction to ensure the guidelines of the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) are followed. |

The ESL program is designed to enable English Language Learners to become competent in listening, speaking, reading, and writing of the English Language through the use of second language methods and gain success in all academic subject areas. The ESL program is an integral part of the total school program. University of Texas-University Charter School uses the Pull-out and Content-based program models to serve students in the ESL program throughout the district.
