About Us
University Extension contributes to the mission of the Division of Continuing Education by offering an array of educational opportunities to many different audiences throughout the community. We are committed to bringing meaningful and enriching experiences unique to The University of Texas to anyone with a passion for life-long learning.
UT for You, Too
Courses offered by University Extension do not require UT admission but are comparable to the courses taught on campus, in UT Austin classrooms, to UT Austin students. Each course has met the approval of UT Austin academic departments, and each course is taught by UT or UT-approved instructors. University Extension courses may be taken for professional development, to help with career transitions, to make progress toward a degree, or for pure self-enrichment. We offer semester-based classroom courses on campus after 5PM. In addition, we offer online distance learning classes students may enroll in at any time, from any place.
Our Odyssey personal enrichment courses are also open to all and range in topics from architecture to opera. Taught by UT Austin instructors, these courses provide participants with an academically enriching and engaging experience.
Educators
Our AP Summer Institutes provide educators with the tools they need to initiate and maintain successful Pre-AP and AP courses and programs. Each July, teachers from all over Texas and beyond gather to take advantage of the intellectual, cultural, and technological resources available on the UT Austin campus. Our summer institutes are endorsed by the College Board and are led by College Board-endorsed consultants.
University of Texas Students
University Extension provides UT-enrolled students with many alternatives to the traditional classroom experience. We offer both evening and online distance learning courses. All of our college courses may be taken for credit in pursuance of a degree. We also offer certificates in Business Foundations and Elements of Computing, that give students an extra edge when applying for jobs and advanced degrees. Along with our course offerings, University Extension provides academic advising to interested students.
