New Self-paced Online English Course Opened for Registration
University Extension (UEX) is pleased to announce the opening of a new self-paced online course, E 348 — The Twentieth-Century Short Story.
The course is taught by Dr. Wayne Lesser, an award winning professor in the Department of English at The University of Texas at Austin and long-time instructor for UEX. Dr. Lesser teaches a wide range of American literature and theory courses to both undergraduate and graduate students.
English 348 has two objectives. First, to introduce students to a selection of famous twentieth-century American short stories and the writers behind them, including Faulkner, Hemingway, O’Brien, Updike, and Walker. Second, to teach students how to interpret the relationship between the narrative enterprise—the telling of the story—and the ideas such narrative work suggests.
E 348 is one of the many self-paced online courses offered by UEX, which can be started at any time and taken from anywhere.
UEX courses are drawn from the course inventory of The University of Texas at Austin. They provide transferable college credit and appear on an official university transcript.
