:: College Credit Courses for Military Personnel & Their Family Members
University Extension (UEX) is dedicated to helping military service members and their families continue their education and realize their goals while serving their country.
UEX offers a wide range of classroom and online courses from the UT Austin course inventory. UEX courses will appear on a UT Austin transcript and will transfer to almost all colleges and universities. UT admission is not required.
With an approved Military Tuition Assistance Form, military personnel can take our courses and have course fees paid by the military.
Advising is available year round for anyone interested in taking advantage of UEX course options.

University Extension offers over 60 online classes, which can be started anytime, and taken from anywhere. Our online courses are perfect for independent learners looking to build college credit and set their own pace.

In the Austin area?
If you live in the Austin area, you can take UEX classroom courses, on campus, in the evenings.
UEX classroom courses are semester-based and begin mid-January, early June, and late August/early September. Classes meet after 5 p.m. on the main UT Austin campus. UEX classroom courses offer small class sizes and a lot of faculty interaction.

Steps To Register:
- Obtain an approved Military Tuition Assistance Form, and fax or email it to our Registrar, Carol Tremaine at (512) 471-2905 or dakota@mail.utexas.edu.
- Complete the online registration process, indicating “Check” as your method of payment, and note that you are a member of the military.
We will contact you if we require any additional information.
Please note:
- If you will be abroad, you may want to obtain your textbook(s) prior to submitting your registration.
- All exams have to be taken at an approved testing site with a proctor, usually the Education Officer (EO) where you are stationed. Contact our Testing Assistant Angela Dodson, at uextesting@austin.utexas.edu, and she can assist in locating a site in an area close to you.
