Online Nursing Course Offered for Spring Semester

University Extension (UEX) is offering N 309 - Global Health (Online) in the spring. This course provides students with an overview of global health, with particular emphasis given to the determinants of health, health indicators, human rights, globalization, current socio-cultural factors, health care and public health systems.

The course will be taught by UT School of Nursing faculty member Dr. Jane Champion as an online cohort course, providing a special opportunity for students all over the world to earn credit while exploring current global health issues.

Some of the topics that students will explore include:

How globalization impacts changing patterns in health and disease.
Ways that research and technology contribute to improving global health.
Interventions designed to improve global health.

N 309 carries a Global Cultures flag.

UEX’s Spring 2013 courses begin the week of January 14, 2013.

UEX online cohort courses follow the university’s semester calendar, having specific start and end dates, without requiring that students be located in Austin to attend classes. Students interact online with the course instructor and their fellow classmates, complete coursework online and take exams in an approved testing center near them.

UEX courses are transferable and appear on an official transcript from The University of Texas at Austin.
