Online English Courses
University Extension (UEX) offers open enrollment to self-paced online English courses from The University of Texas at Austin course inventory, which can be started at any time and taken from anywhere.
With UEX self-paced online courses you can:
- Meet core curriculum requirements.
- Finish up that last course to graduate.
- Take a prerequisite for graduate and professional school.
Take up to five months to complete your coursework, with the option to purchase a course extension, if you need more time.
UEX courses will appear on a UT Austin transcript and are transferable. Admission to the university is not required.
Talk to your advisor about how to transfer credit earned with UEX, as degree requirements vary across schools.

If you live in the Austin area, you can take UEX classroom courses, in the evenings.
UEX classroom courses follow the university’s semester calendar beginning three times a year in mid-January, early June and late August/early September. Classes meet after 5 p.m. on the main UT Austin campus. UEX classroom courses offer small class sizes and a lot of faculty interaction.
University Extension courses are drawn from the course inventory of The University of Texas at Austin. The University of Texas at Austin is accredited by the Commission on Colleges (COC) of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the regional accrediting organization for eleven states in the southeastern United States, including Texas.
