Noise Dosimeter Program

In response to the noise regulations promulgated under Part 62, CFR 30, the Texas Mine Safety & Health Program has purchased ten Quest noise dosimeters and two sound level meters with an octave band analyzer that are available to Texas mines needing to conduct surveys required under these new regulations. If you have a need to do some noise surveying at your site to comply with the new Part 62 Standards, we want to help. Please contact John Henderson by phone (1-800-687-7345) or by email jhenderson@mail.utexas.edu) to make arrangements.

At the present time, you must have someone with expertise on conducting such surveys available because we will not be able come out to help you. MSHA has told us to warn everyone that certain errors in conducting your noise survey could invalidate the results, so if you aren’t sure what you’re doing, you will need to hire an expert to do it for you. We have a list of people who say they are qualified to perform noise surveys and will stand behind their findings. These consultants are not part of the TMSHP and therefore TMSHP cannot and does not guarantee the quality or timeliness of their performance. We are prohibited from endorsing anyone so it remains a good business practice to get references before hiring anyone.

If you would like be included in the list of persons wanting to conduct sound surveys, let us know so we can add your name and number to the list. So far the list is as follows:
