Comal Frogs Teacher Wins Award

Wanda Davis-Watkins is honored by Austin Association for the Education of Young Children

Wanda Davis-Watkins (center) was honored with the Sallie Beth Moore Award for excellence in early childhood education. Many Child Development Center staff members cheered her on at the awards ceremony.

April 24, 2007 — Wanda Davis-Watkins, our very own Comal Frogs teacher, received the Sallie Beth Moore Award from the Austin Association for the Education of Young Children (AAEYC). The award recognizes Wanda for her level of involvement with children and her excellence as an early childhood educator.

Sandy Briley, director of the Child Development Center, presented the award to Wanda in the AAEYC ceremony Tuesday night. “I can’t think of a more deserving person than Wanda,” says Sandy. “She has this magical way with the infants, and her good cheer brings such warmth to the children, parents, and staff of our community.”

Wanda has 36 years of experience in the field, and is still as cheerful and energetic as ever. In fact, one parent notes, “The children are attracted to her like bees to honey.”

The whole Child Development Center community wishes to congratulate Wanda on this great honor. To learn more about Wanda and our other amazing staff members, you can read our staff bios.
