Software systems are increasingly ubiquitous in all aspects of our lives. Failures in these systems can be costly in terms of money, time, and business reputation. Effective software testing is integral to mitigating harm caused by software failures and providing confidence in software systems. This course introduces software testing methodology and principles. It explores why testing is necessary, the basic testing process, and the psychology behind testing. This course is one of a series intended to align with the Certified Tester Foundations Level Syllabus (the “Syllabus”).  The authors, Thomas Muller (chair), Dorothy Graham, Debra Friedenberg and Erik van Veendendal, and the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB®) are the source and copyright owners of the Syllabus.  The course is intended to help learners prepare for the Foundation Certificate in Software Testing exam (BH0-010) which is provided by the Information Systems Examination Board (ISEB), a globally-recognized testing body providing software testing certification. UT’s online Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Prep program helps individuals working toward the Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) level. This program includes SWITCH 1.0: Implementing Cisco IP Switched Networks (642-813), TSHOOT 1.0: Troubleshooting and Maintaining Cisco IP Networks (642-832), and ROUTE 1.0: Implementing Cisco IP Routing (642-902). Those considering enrolling in this program should have one year of more of networking experience. The UT Austin online Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) program is designed for experienced IT security professionals seeking the Information Systems Audit and Control Association’s (ISACA) CISM designation. According to ISACA, “The management-focused CISM is a unique certification for individuals who design, build and manage enterprise information security programs” (isaca.org). This online CISM prep program covers topics connected to managing, designing, and overseeing an enterprise’s information security: information security governance, information risk management, information security program development, and incident management and response.
