Jennifer Knott joins Continuing Education as new webmaster
Continuing Education (CE) is pleased to announce that Jennifer Knott has joined our team as the new webmaster. In this role, Jennifer manages the CE Web site and maintains architecture and design continuity among related Web sites across the division. As webmaster, she supports the six components of CE: University Extension (UEX), Petroleum Extension Service (PETEX), Professional Development Center (PDC), Thompson Conference Center (TCC), K-16 Education Center (K-16), and University Charter School (UCS). Jennifer begins her assignment in CE on December 1, 2008.
“I’m delighted that Jennifer has joined our team,” says Yuteh Ma, assistant dean for information technology (IT) in Continuing Education. “It is a demanding position, but I am confident that Jennifer’s design talent and strong Web experience will help us make our Web sites and our customer service even better.”
Jennifer comes to The University of Texas at Austin after working 9 years as a web designer for Special Audience Marketing Inc. in Austin, Texas. In that role, she gained valuable leadership experience in Web site management and became skilled in a number of Web-related fields such as accessibility solutions, Web analytic tools, and e-commerce development. Prior to that position, Jennifer worked as an art director for the Openshaw Media Group in Birmingham, Alabama where she specialized in instructional interface design and developed 3-D animation for television, the Web and other multimedia. Past positions also include graphic designer for the Birmingham Museum of Art, media department manager for the Alabama Resource Center for Economic Development, and independent Interior Design Specialist.
Jennifer earned a Bachelor of Arts in Ceramic Sculpture and Art History from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama. She recently earned her Webmaster Certification from Austin Community College. She anticipates completing her Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology from the University of Georgia in 2010.
She is a member of the Usability Professionals Association and the American Institute of Graphic Artists (AIGA). She has been awarded several honors including the Paul W. Crutchfield Scholarship for illustration and design, the Crystal Quill for design and programming, the Addy for art direction, and the Cody Award for graphic design and illustration.
