PETEX Offers New Book on Hot Topic in Energy
Liquefied Natural Gas is a form of energy that is once again making news—and for good reasons. Liquefied Natural Gas has been available since the 1940’s, but in the last 7 years has received considerably increased attention. Interest in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) has grown as natural gas consumption has increased and production decreased, driving prices to unprecedented high levels.
PETEX, the Petroleum Extension Service, a unit of the Division of Continuing and Innovative Education at The University of Texas at Austin is proud to offer a timely new book on this dynamic industry. This thorough yet easily accessible new book, LNG: Basics of Liquefied Natural Gas, 1st Ed., provides comprehensive coverage of all domains in the LNG industry.
Liquefied Natural Gas is playing an important role in our global energy mix. It can help make natural gas an option as an energy source by providing an economical way to transport and store natural gas, even where natural gas pipelines don’t exist. Liquefied Natural Gas is created through a process where stranded natural gas is liquefied, transported, stored, then regasified.
This book is written for readers who are managers new to the LNG industry, or operating personnel with suitable technical background. The full-color content presents an overall picture of how LNG liquefication and regasification facilities work and why the industry has evolved.
The books authors are Dr. Stanley Huang, Dr. Chen-Hwa Chiu, and Dr. Doug Elliot. Having worked in the LNG industry for many years, Dr. Stanley Huang and Dr. Chen-Hwa Chiu of Chevron Energy Technology and Dr. Doug Elliot of Bechtel Corporation contributed both technical and hands-on experience in writing this book to bridge the gap between public perceptions and industrial realities.
The book is available for sale from PETEX. To place an order or for more information please call us at 800-687-4132 or 512-471-5940 or FAX us at 800-687-7839 or 512-471-9410 or by e-mail to petex@www.utexas.edu.
