About the Office

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at The University of Texas at Austin was redefined by President Powers in March 2010. The Office of the CIO and Information Technology Services (ITS) are now part of the Vice President and Chief Financial officer portfolio, under the leadership of Kevin Hegarty.

Charged with breathing life into the new campus-wide IT governance structure, the CIO is responsible for implementing the new strategic direction and focus for IT resoures at the university. To meet this challenge, this office oversees three organizations tasked with the technology concerns of our campus.

Brad Englert — CIO

Brad Englert, Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for The University of Texas at Austin, has spent much of his professional life working in and assisting institutions of higher education.

During Englert's twenty-two year career with Accenture, a global management consulting and technology services company, he served in a variety of IT leadership and operational roles for large, complex, and diverse institutions of higher education and state government, including five years as managing partner for Accenture's USA higher education practice. When Englert retired as a senior partner in 2006, he had a proven track record in IT operations, large scale information systems implementations, and strategic IT planning for a number of major institutions of higher education.
