Broadband - R&E discussed the impact of flipped classes on broadband.
Mobile Strategy - The Research and Education committee unanimously endorsed the core mobile strategy for The University of Texas at Austin.
EdX - The Research and Educational Technology committee is exploring the EdX tool potentials and possibilities for the UT campus.
R&E Priorities - R&E will focus on Big data policies, the research computing environment, and classroom technologies as three of their priorities for the academic year.

LIFT - Twenty applications were submitted for the Longhorn Innovation Fund for Technology. Awardees will be announced in August.

LIFT - LONGHORN INNOVATION FUND FOR TECHNOLOGY CALL FOR PROPOSALS NOW OPEN!!!
LIFT Launch - The call for proposals for the Longhorn Innovation Fund for Technology will launch on April 19. An event to celebrate the launch will be held from 2:30-4:00 p.m. in ACES 2.402. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
LIFT - The proposal guidelines for the Longhorn Innovation Fund for Technology are currently under review.
Auditorium WiFi - Planning has begun to expand WiFi coverage in auditorium classrooms that hold more than 125 people.
Mobile Strategy - Announcing the launch of the task force that will develop a strategy for our mobile campus.
Data Management Training - A communication and training schedule has been launched for the data management and planning resources site (http://www.lib.utexas.edu/datamanagement). Roll out will occur in December and January.
Data Management Planning - A set of resources to assist grant writers in developing data management plans has been compiled at the following site: http://www.lib.utexas.edu/datamanagement.
Longhorn Innovation Fund for Technology - 2010-2011 LIFT Recipients have filed their final project reports. The projects sparked lots of innovation on campus.
Resources for Researchers - the first training for the information technology and data management planning resources took place on October 19, 2011.
Data Storage - The Research and Education Committee is considering the final and best pricing of select data storage venders and is ready to deploy the new storage system upon approval.
LIFT - The committee voted to fund five projects for the 2011-2011 year. Details on the projects are available on the LIFT Website.
The committee received 28 LIFT proposals. These are currently being scored and a meeting is scheduled for late-July to decide which proposals to fund.
Usability Labs have been set up to allow students, faculty, and staff to take an in-depth look at one or more of the five LMS options.
R&E approves the proposal to reduce the number of Adobe Connect licenses to 500 and have costs allocated across the top 10 users.
Moodle, Blackboard, Desire2Learn, Canvas, and Sakai will be on campus this week and next providing presentations and demonstrations of their products.
LIFT is now accepting proposals for 2011/2012 funding.
Learning Management System Review - The team is working on forming a steering committee to guide the project.
Student Email - Students can submit suggestions for names for the new email service to Ideas of Texas. The project team is fully engaged in gearing up for the launch, in addition to working out an implementation timeline and tackling a host of technical issues.
