About Our Students
The College of Fine Arts prepares students for the creation, practice, study, criticism, and teaching of the arts in a context that emphasizes cultural diversity, community engagement, and technological innovation. Both students and faculty members of The College have regularly received national and international recognition for their achievements. The College enrolls just over 2,000 students in three academic units: The Department of Art and Art History, The School of Music, and The Department of Theatre and Dance. Graduate students comprise about 25% of the total enrollment.
Our students possess a wide array of talents and creative abilities. The rigors of pursuing a degree in the fine arts also provides our graduates with:
- Creative thinking and dynamic problem-solving skills,
- A results-oriented attitude coupled with discipline and self-motivation,
- The ability to work independently and as a team player,
- Exceptional communication skills.
Fine Arts graduates work in a wide range of fields. Some choose to pursue visual and performing arts occupations while others find employment with non-arts organizations. Most of our graduates gravitate toward careers and jobs that offer them the opportunity to work and think creatively. And, as you know, "out of the box" thinking is an asset in all sectors of the workplace.
