UT Border Experts Series

Tue, July 27, 2010

The series, called "Border Voices", will feature faculty experts talking about issues related to immigration reform, border violence and the new Arizona law. We will release three short videos from a different faculty member each week through the November elections. As public debate rages over border and immigration issues, we hope the series can help add some civility and context to a discussion too often marked by vitriol. And we hope to make the faculty available to media covering the issues.

The series will be featured on KNOW, the UT website dedicated to campus research and news:

You're welcome to link to the videos, embed them in your site and use them for any communications your department or unit sends out. The embedding code will be included on KNOW once the series is launched Monday morning.

The first four scheduled faculty members are:
July 19 - Cecilia Balli, Anthropology, CMAS, LLILAS
July 26 -- Mercedes L De Uriarte, Journalism, CWGS
August 2 - Barbara Hines, Law School, Immigration Law Clinic
Aug. 9 - Madeline Hsu, History, Center for Asian American Studies
