Proposed Catalog Changes

The following are documents for proposed legislative changes to the College of Liberal Arts chapter of the Undergraduate Catalog, 2008-2010. If you have any questions or comments, please contact Cynthia Cervantes at cac@austin.utexas.edu or 232-2987.

Objections to proposed catalog changes will be accepted from the College of Liberal Arts voting faculty. All objections must be submitted in writing within five days of posting, by the deadline indicated. Written objections should be sent via email to cac@austin.utexas.edu and should include 1) the proposed change in question, and 2) the rationale for the objection. If you would like to include a formal letter, please send it as an attachment.

If fewer than ten objections are received, the legislation will be forwarded to the Office of the General Faculty for their review.  If ten or more objections are received, the dean will reevaluate the proposal, taking comments into consideration, before making a final decision.

Once finally approved, the change(s) will become effective in fall 2010, under the Undergraduate Catalog, 2010-2012.

Deadline for Objections:  November 20, 2009

The following documents contain additions that simply restate a degree requirement that already exists in the College of Liberal Arts chapter of the Undergraduate Catalog, 2008-2010, found on page 316 under Bachelor of Arts, Plan I. Specifically, the minimum Major grade point average of 2.00 has been added to the text for the Economics major, which will now allow a C- in the 28 hours of Economics courses required for the major, and the Government major, which will now allow a C- in all 30 hours required for the major. The Economics document is a revised version of what has already been approved by CUDPR. Both documents have been forwarded to the Office of the General Faculty in order to schedule them for CUDPR review as quickly as possible, since it is after the deadline for submitting proposals. No objections are expected since the requirement is already stated in the catalog. However, please contact Cynthia if you have any questions, comments, or objections and we will address them individually.
