Film Series: Reel Injun

This month, the American Studies Film Series will host a FREE screening of Cree filmmaker Neil Diamond's 2009 documetary Reel Injun!

Reel Injun is illustrated with excerpts from classic and contemporary portrayals of Native people in Hollywood movies and interviews with filmmakers, actors and film historians, while director Diamond travels across the United States to visit iconic locations in motion picture as well as American Indian history.

American Studies PhD student Eddie Whitewolf will give a brief introduction to the film. Eddie's academic interests include cinema and media studies, Native American studies, cultural appropriation and commodification, and pop culture.
