MS III Cadets Teach Breaking Contact

Tue, March 25, 2008

Prior to lab, the MS III cadets learned about breaking contact in their MS classes with CPT McFarland and SFC Gamboa, as well as researching and studying on their own. The MS III Platoon Sergeants developed a plan to teach what they learned and informed their Platoon Leaders, who provided guidance and advice about teaching Army classes. During lab, the MS IV cadets were each with a group being led by an MS III instructor, providing an extra set of experienced eyes to catch mistakes or identify excellence.

The MS IIIs were teaching Breaking Contact, which is used when the opposing force is too great for the small unit negotiate. They practiced secure and effective ways to move away from the opposing force. They stressed the importance of communication, violence of action, and speed. At the conclusion of training, the cadets gathered to discuss final questions about the training and receive guidance for the coming weeks. Cadets will continue to build on their combat training and focus on the Joint FTX on 4 APR 2008.
