Faculty received Humanities Research Award 2011.

Kirsten Cather, Assistant Professor in the Department of Asian Studies is one of the recipients of the Humanities Research Award 2011 for “Scripting Suicide in Modern Japan”.

Humanities Research Awards provide funding for tenured and tenure-track faculty whose work falls within the disciplines of the humanities and whose home departments are in the College of Liberal Arts.  The awards support faculty in their effort to bring a research project to completion, and the expectation is that the recipient will produce one or more publications and make his or her work known to the academic community through conferences and other venues. The award is $5,000 for three consecutive years, for a total of $15,000. Ten awards will be granted in the 2011-2012 academic year.
