A Word of Welcome from
the Alumni Association of Greater Austin President

The Phi Beta Kappa Alumni Association of Greater Austin was formed in 1998 and chartered as a constituent member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society in 2001. The purpose of the Association is to promote a greater interest in Phi Beta Kappa and to further its ideals by encouraging scholarship, cultural interests and connections among Phi Beta Kappa students and alumni. Every member of Phi Beta Kappa residing in the greater Austin area is eligible for membership in the Association and is encouraged to join. Our membership currently numbers approximately 300.

The Association holds two general meetings a year, in May and November, featuring distinguished speakers and stimulating programs. In February the Association hosts a career discussion panel where PBK alumni from a variety of fields share their experiences with student members of PBK.

Our main philanthropy is providing college scholarships to outstanding local area students. These scholarships are funded by the dues of our members and by gifts from individuals, trusts, and corporations, such as Holt McDougal. To date, over 50 remarkable students have received scholarships from the Association, and our goal is to find the means to increase both the number and amount of scholarships in the future.
