Asian American Studies (AAS) is an emerging discipline that explores the cultural, political, and historical study of Asian Americans. It incorporates various interrelated studies including anthropology, history, sociology, women’s and gender studies, communications, American studies, religious studies, and psychology. AAS critically analyzes Asian American experiences throughout history, both deconstructing and redefining the concept of Asian American identity. It is an increasingly relevant discipline in the context of an expanding Asian diaspora in the United States. AAS academic programs in the U.S. can be found here.
