This talk focuses on the significance of neoliberalism, a dominant political economic logic since the 1970s, to Asian American racial formations in the post-65 period. Helen Jun teaches courses on race and U.S. national culture, the racial and gender politics of policing and incarceration of the poor in the United States, as well as classes on African American and Asian American literature. She is interested in comparative racial analysis and is currently completing a book manuscript that examines how the U.S. state has racially defined Blacks and Asians in relation to each other since the 19th century. Her research interests include Asian American Cultural Politics, U.S. Multiethnic Literature, African American literature, Race and Incarceration, Citizenship and National Culture.
