Requirements for the Bachelor of Arts in Asian American Studies
General Area Requirements:
To earn a degree in Asian American Studies each student must complete the area requirements for Liberal Arts. Degree plans are available online.
Major Requirements:
The undergraduate Asian American Studies major in the College of Liberal Arts requires 24 semester hours of coursework in addition to all other Liberal Arts area requirements.
- 3 hours specified Asian American Studies: AAS 301.
- 9 hours in Asian American Studies. At least one course in each of the following: Culture, Literature or Media Studies Economics, History or Government Anthropology, Geography or Sociology
- 12 additional hours of Asian American Studies
- At least 18 out of 24 total hours must be upper-division.
Minor Requirements:
A minor consists of 12 semester hours, including at least 6 hours of upper-division coursework, in any one field of study other than Asian American Studies. 6 of the required 12 hours for the minor must be taken in residence.
