CAAS Faculty members attend the American Studies Association Annual Meeting, “Imagination, Reparation, Transformation”

Director and Associate Professor, Madeline Hsu, will be a panelist on “Trajectories in American Studies: Futures, Limits, and New Directions” session, and will also present at “Reconsidering Refugees as Immigrants: Exceptionalism in Ethnic History Narratives” session.
Assistant Professor, Nhi Lieu, will present at “Disciplining Gendered Bodies: The Strategic Performance of Ethnic Identity in Musical, Literary, and Visual Culture” session.
Assistant Professor, Naomi Paik, will be a panelist at the “Witnessing, Violence, and the (Im)Possibilities of Reparations” session.
The American Studies Association is the nation’s oldest and largest association devoted to the interdisciplinary study of American culture and history. This year’s annual meeting theme is “Imagination, Reparation, Transformation” in Baltimore, Maryland from October 20-23, 2011.
