Center Activities

Multicultural Information Center

In cooperation with student and administrative organizations, CAAS hosts and sponsors invited speakers, film series, performance, and conferences that foster the intellectual, activist, and artistic engagement of the UT community and beyond. The CAAS also works closely with the Multicultural Information Center to help promote leadership and solidarity amongst the Asian American Students organizations such as the Asian Desi Pacific Islander American Coalition (APAC).

Asian/Asian American Faculty and Staff Association

The mission of the Asian/Asian American Faculty and Staff Association (AAAFSA) at The University of Texas at Austin is to support, celebrate, and empower Asian and Asian American faculty and staff by fostering a community that provides opportunities for networking, communication, and growth -- both personal and professional. AAAFSA also serves as a voice that represents and advocates for its members along with increasing awareness of Asian and Asian American issues within the University community.

Asian American Awareness Month

In October 1992, Congress passed a law designating May as National Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Across the country, numerous colleges, universities, community organizations and governmental agencies celebrate the diverse histories and cultures that comprise Asian Pacific America. The Center for Asian American Studies works in conjunction with other campus groups to organize events commemorating the role and contributions of Asian Americans in our society.
