Do you want to make history? Intern at the Austin History Center!
Sign up for AAS 379 “Conference Course in Asian American Studies”
This conference course offers you the opportunity to meet and work with Asian American community and business leaders in central Texas while helping develop historical records about this understudied group. By working with the Austin History Center (AHC), you will interview Asian Americans who have played significant roles in the history, culture, and economy of Texas. These oral histories will be transcribed and archived at the AHC for future researchers.
This course can be taken for three units of credit for which you will produce 3-4 oral histories and a written 5-6 page report concerning your findings. Esther Chung, Asian American Neighborhood Liaison at AHC, will train and supervise you in interview, transcription, and preservation techniques.
To learn more about this opportunity, contact Dr. Madeline Hsu, Director of the Center for Asian American Studies (CAAS), at myhsu@austin.utexas.edu, 512-232-9469, or visit CAAS at GRG 220.
